sterner1: Ladies and Gentlemen This topic is open for anybody who wants to practice the English grammar. It is well known that people often overlook their errors in writing and a fresh eye of someone else may come in handy. Please feel free to post your pieces of writing and I am sure you would get a friendly feedback. People of any level of proficiency are encouraged to participate. XXL: Amigo I speak fluently German(probably much better than English) and Serbo-Croatian.No,I won't go to Bishkek again.I'll change my citizenship soon,so I won't be able to go there without applying for a visa.I have nothing left there....

I prefer to rewrite in the following way: I have learnt two more languages (in addition to English) and got in touch with a thousand people. Instead of "in addition to" it is possible to use "besides" without any prepositions. Instead of "a thousand people" it is possible to use "many thousands of people".

Or you could say: You are sucking all the mistakes from your finger just to show that you are better in English than anyone else here. небольшой комментарий по поводу использования русской идиомы" высасывать из пальца". не рекомендуется давать дословный перевод идиоматических выражений. англичане будут иметь трудности в понимании. намного лучше использовать близкую по смыслу английскую идиому. например если вы хотите сказать своей подруге “моя лапочка “не стоит говорить “my little paw”, just say “ my sweet-heart”.

FlyingHollander: Who will judge us? My remark: adverbs with "ly" at the end are not used as a part of impersonal verb. It looks like "Russism".

Hence, 'it is perfectly OK' is the same as saying 'there is nothing (at all) wrong with it'. 'Perfect' in this sentence would have nothing to go with - you would have to say 'it is perfect AND OK' which is tautological (saying the same thing twice) and tautology definitely doesn't work when you have two different registers (strong and neutral - it can't be both). Andrew Russell If the author of this letter would be a native speaker of English,at the end of it there would be something like C U or bye,was glad to help you,have a nice .... and so on...They never finish letters the way your expert-friend did.They are too well-behaived for that kind of writing.Are you sure you friend is not from ....Russia ?The end of the letter sounds cold-hearted and really sloppy.... I bet that you have never ever been sitting next to a native speaker of English. My "sloppy" sentence is absolutely common.
